Maryse Lassonde is President of the Higher Council for Education (Québec) in Canada since 2018. After she obtained her Ph.D. in neuropsychology from Stanford University in 1977, she became a Professor at Québec University in Trois-Rivières (1977-1988), then in University of Montréal (1988-2012), where she has been appointed Emerit Professor in 2013.

She has edited 7 books, and wrote more than 300 scientific articles and chapters, and received several honorary prizes. She is fellow of the Canadian Society of Psychology, of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and also of the Royal Canadian Society.

She also received several decorations : Officer from the Canadian Order, Knight from the National Order of Québec, which she has presided from 2008 to 2010. She has also been President of the French Speaking Association for Knowledge in 1993, and President of the Canadian Royal Society from 2015 to 2017. Finally, she was Scientific Director of Research Fund Québec -Nature&Technologies from January 2012 to juillet 2018.
